Media and Leadership - Learning The ersusive Language of media
This commercial influences all my 3 brains.
1. When I see I shout “wow”. It is my reptilian brain.
2. When I see and listen the music it appeals my limbic brain.
3. Then I think and it appeals my neocortex brain.
There are same ways of convincing in this commercial.
1. Symbol. When we see the symbols of “Oriflame”.
2. Repetition. We can see and listen the same words repeated in the commercial.
3. Big lie. Is it much better and healthier other lipsticks?
4. Hyperbole. They persuade us by making claims.
5. Beatiful people. The beautiful girl attracts everybody’s attention and this is one of the ways of persuading.

My Media Inventory
1) Books- I like to read adventure stories. One of my favorite books is Mark Twen's "Adventures of Tom Sawyer". I also read madventure stories of our outhors.I like to read books on Saturdays and Sundays when I have free time. But now as i'm in the 9th grade i don't have much time for books.2) Newspapers/Magazines- I don't read newspapers so much. I regularly read magazines especially sport magazines. As i'm a football fan i read fotball news from the newspapers and magazines. One of my favorite newspapers is "Football+". I always buy "Bravo". I read about my favorite bands and take their posters from this magazine.
3) Music- I'm a fan of rock and pop. I listen music %50 of my day. As i live far from school i never take part with my ipod. My favorite bands are Tokio Hotel, 30 Seconds To Mars, Linkin Park, Evanescence. I think that music is the way to express our feelings.
4) Television- I watch Tv regularly. I watch especially intellectual programs and sometimes watch films, news and cartoons. My family members watch Tv more than me. I with my little sister watch Discovery Channel, Animal Planet. The life of animals and the way how they survive in different situations always attracts my attention.
5) Video Games- I often play video games. When i play games i feel myself inside the game. My favorite games are Madagascar 2, GTA San Andreas, Happy Feet, Sims, NBA Live 09,Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Transformers, Duel Masters. I enjoy playing games.
6) Computers- I use Word, Excel, Powerpoint programs. Computers make human's life easy. I use Word program it corrects my spelling mistakes. When I use computer at the same time i listen to music.
7)Internet- Today internet is part of our life. I use internet for different purposes. I use it check up my e-mails. Very often I use Yahooand Google to search the information I need. And I always
download songs.

My Knowledge Tree
1)Hi, My Name is Tural. I'm 15 years old. I am from Azerbaijan. I was born in Baku and living here right now. I'm in the 9th grade. Unlike some students, I actually love school: not only does it educate us, but it teaches us experiences and gives us new friends. I'm sure that I'll also get new friends from USA and gain a lot of experience from DOTCOM "school"=)
2) Media means everything to me. we can't imagine XXI century without media. I like surfing the net. I don't use internet just for fun. I find and read interesting articles about celebs, do different ICQ tests and it helps to increase my logic. I also like to read magazines and newspapers. We always share new information with my classmates at school.
3) One thing that bothers me is the care of elders. They have worked for us while being young and made our lives easier, but many of us take them for granted. Many do not care for them, especially in metroes and busses. Many do not give them a seat to sit in and it is a problem, because one day we will grow old too; i do not think that we would like to be treated that way.
4) As I have a lot of interests I would like to show my partners( from USA) the way of life of Azerbaijan family, the way of our young culture. Azerbaijan is an ancient country we have our national carpets. They amaze everybody who comes our country. I would like to demostrate our culture to everybody.
